How It Works

The OATVANE P-Type Weather Seal is a soft strip of flexible EPDM rubber with a peel-and-stick back. It sits along the frame and compresses when the door or window closes, helping block cold drafts and reduce unwanted airflow, dust and outside noise.

1. Check your gap

Close the door on a strip of paper. If it slides out easily, there's a gap. Measure it with a ruler, or use two stacked US nickels (about 4 mm) as a reference.

Best fit: gaps of about 3–5 mm (⅛"–3/16").
Under 3 mm: the door may struggle to close.
Over 5 mm: a thicker seal will work better.

2. Choose your color and length

Available in Grey, Brown, Black and White. A standard U.S. door frame (two sides plus the top) is about 16.5 ft.

  • 5 m (16.4 ft): about 1 standard door. Ships as 2 strips of 8.2 ft.
  • 10 m (32.8 ft): about 2 standard doors. Ships as 2 strips of 16.4 ft.

Doors and windows vary, so please measure your frames before ordering.

3. Install in minutes, no tools required

  1. Clean the frame and let it dry completely.
  2. Peel the backing as you go.
  3. Press firmly along the frame, where the door or window closes against it.
  4. Trim any excess with scissors, then avoid opening and closing for about 24 hours while the adhesive sets.

On cold days, warm the adhesive side with a hair dryer for about a minute before pressing it in place.

Where it works best

Entry and interior doors, hinged and casement windows, closet and utility doors. It's not designed for the gap under a door, or for surfaces that slide against each other.
